Local singer and songwriter, Keilana Mokulehua brings the tunes to your home via virtual concerts to help raise money for businesses during the Covid-19 pandemic. For the past few months, Keilana Mokuleha has been dedicated to perfecting her craft in music and keeping us entertained during the stay-at-home order.
KEILANA is an R&B/Soul musician from Honolulu, HI. Growing up in the islands, she developed a deep connection and gratitude towards her Hawaiian, Pacific-Islander, and Asian roots. As she began to pursue music, her dreams to bridge the gap between mainstream music and music of Hawaii grew exponentially. Keilana aspires to be a catalyst for change and evolution in Hawaii's music industry, encouraging the creatives of today and the generations to follow to dream big, hone their skills, and use their platforms to inspire.
Keilana attended Kamehameha Schools Kapalama, graduating in 2012 and continuing her education at The University of Hawaii at Manoa where she received her BA in Music. While attending college, she began her career as a live musician performing throughout the islands at various venues, restaurants, and establishments. While she began to grow attention as a live musician, she decided to simultaneously further her studies in Music Business by attending the MELE (Music Entertainment and Learning Experience) Program at Honolulu Community College. Her desire to grow her business catapulted her to success within the live music scene along with the private events and wedding industry. She also began to work as a session musician and vocalist for a variety of noted local artists such as Mike Love, Paula Fuga, Izik, Evan Khay, Deandre Brakensick, and more. While attending business school, she was introduced to the realm of sync music, which involved writing music specifically for Film and Television.
In 2017, she was selected as a finalist for the Creative Lab Hawaii: Creative Lab Music Immersive Program representing Hawaii artists at large for festivals and events in Los Angeles, New York, and Japan. The Creative Lab Immersive introduced her to co-writing, where she began to collaborate with local musicians and notable songwriters such as Kenny Loggins (Dannys Song, Footloose, House At Pooh Corner) and many others. She quickly received success with her collaborated songs receiving placement on major television shows such as Nashville (CMT), Ex On The Beach (MTV), Love & Hip-Hop (VH1). Her most recent sync was a major placement in OnePlus newest release, the OnePlus Nord.
Her latest endeavor has been navigating through 2020 as a musician while raising community awareness about banding together with local businesses to assist Hawaii's struggling economy. She utilizes her musical abilities to inspire a genuine connection with her audience, colleagues, and aspiring artists alike.
Keilana is set to release her first full-length project I AM, as a ZEO Music artist under the direction and in collaboration with highly acclaimed musician and producer, Imua Garza. The album is a beautifully raw anthology of original songs that explore the struggle, discovery, loss, and excitement of pursuing one's dream as an artist.
